What: Box lacrosse is the 5v5 indoor version of our 10v10 outdoor field version that we play in the spring. There are many skills and concepts that are emphasized when playing box:
Playing in tight spaces and protecting the ball
Short sticks only no long poles. Defensemen must use their feet.
Playing 5v5 makes everyone have to learn defense and offense
Playing off the boards and glass. There is no out of bounds.
Dodging in tight spaces. Fakes, windups, hitches, rolls etc..
V cuts, Back cuts, fades and curls
Pursuit angles, pressing and collapsing of the defense.
Smaller goals are used so accuracy becomes more important
Playing different positions next to different players requires communication and builds better teammates.
